The Shelbyville Animal Clinic is a small animal veterinary clinic, owned and operated since 1984 by Dr. Jeffrey Epler. Dr. Epler is a 1977 graduate of Purdue University. With over 30 years experience, Dr. Jeff is dedicated to offering you the very best pet care at the most reasonable price. We offer a variety of services and convenient hours at our clinic.

It is our goal to be of service to you and your pet: To treat disease, relieve suffering, offer information, advice and assistance whenever needed. Your pet's problems are our problems.

Minor soft tissue surgeries, along with dentals are scheduled for Monday Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Lab Services

We use a nationally recognized veterinary lab. Most blood chemistries, fecals, urinalysis, biopsy, have a 12 to 24 hr turn around.


When it is the best interest of the pet, Dr. has many Board Certified Specialist are available in the Indianapolis area for referrals or phone consultations.

EMERGENCY SERVICES: In the event there is an emergency outside of offices hours, there are 2 emergency/speciality clinics available within 30 miles of Shelbyville Animal Clinic. Both phone numbers are available.

Our Team

  • Dr. Jeff Epler
    1977 DVM (Purdue University)

    Dr Jeff Epler is an Indiana native. Besides his passion for veterinary medicine he has an extensive knowledge of wines and used to be an avid open water sea diver.

  • Sandy Epler
    1976 BS (Purdue University)
    1982 MS (IUPUI)

    After teaching middle/high school for 9 years, Sandy joined clinic full time fall 1984. Along with enjoying wine and scuba diving with her husband Jeff, she also spent quite a few years performing and teaching various forms of percussion dance.

  • Courtney Andis

    She graduated from Morristown High School in 1998 and has been at the clinic since 1999. She spends her free time on her mini farm looking out for her turkey, chickens, goats, dogs, and cats.

  • Kalynn Crosby

    She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 2017 and has been with the clinic since September of 2019. Along with her own many animals, she often fosters for the shelter.
